If you haven’t heard of the Robot Restaurant in Tokyo, Japan and it’s seriously one of the most touristy things you can do. Despite it’s reputation for being tacky, it’s honestly such a fun experience! It’s like the Disney Electric Parade show on crack. If you can handle loud noises, lots of color and lots of cool technology this is the place for you to visit.
Make sure to book your tickets in ADVANCE this is a really popular experience, and you want to make sure you can visit. You can opt to buy a package that comes with a meal if you want to make it dinner and show. I did that option, and the food was meh, I would honestly eat somewhere else and just do the show here.
The Robot Restaurant is in the Shinjuku’s Kabukicho District. Known for being Japan’s largest red-light district off, but honestly as a female I didn’t feel uncomfortable. This is a really interesting spot in town to explore! Make sure to take some time before or after the show to really soak it all in!
As I mentioned before you want to book ahead of a time. They have limited availability, and they can sell out. Average cost is 8,500 yen or $80 USD, if you add a meal, it’s an additional 1,500 yen or $15 USD.
Honestly expect to have your mind blown and your sense overloaded. It’s a really one of a kind shows and one you must experience to fully appreciate. I can say there is lots of signing, robots fighting and glowstick waving.
Japan has a rule on having tattoos covered as they are associated with the mafia and gangs. As a girl with multiple arm tattoos, I had to really plan ahead for my outfits. Casual chic is the best way to dress for the show. If you have tattoos, make sure you wear something that covers them.
I have to say I really loved the show and would 100% recommend it! I would say it is a show I would only see once. The next time I go to Tokyo I won’t feel the need to visit but it’s a must on your first trip to Tokyo!
Make sure to get there early so you can grab a drink or snack and walk around the decorated waiting area! Make the most of it with these tips for your first trip to the Robot Restaurant!
