As a traveler and book lover discovering unique bookstores is one of my absolute favorite things to do! I always make it a priority in any new city I visit. The Last Bookstore has long been on my list of must visit places!
Its a local favorite in Los Angeles and for good reason! Not only is it the largest bookstore in California but it features more than just books. From records to different vendors selling their art and so much more! You can spend hours just walking up and down the aisles and you still won’t see everything!
When you first enter you will be blown away by the sheer size – it’s a book lovers paradise. There are two floors housing thousands of books. The first floor features new releases, rare books and comics. Spend some time down here there are even some areas to sit and read.
As you head up the stairs you will see all of the unique bookish art and that is where you will find the famous book portal and book tunnel. Made famous on instagram you can head through the Fantasy section and you will arrive at the bank vault and the book tunnel. Take out that camera and snap a few pictures its really something you won’t find in other book stores.
After taking a photo at the book tunnel spend some time walking through the bank vault. It now houses hundreds of books and different book art. Once you spend some time there you can continue on and you will find the holy grail – The Book Portal.
Typically there is always a line waiting to snap a photo – so make sure to look up your pose ideas ahead of time so you can get back to exploring the books.
