Visiting the Tegalalang Rice Fields

Bali, Indoensia is home to some of the most amazing scenery in the world. From epic beaches, to active volcanoes and gorgeous rice fields. Tegalalang is one of the most famous rice fields in Bali and for good reason! When standing at the top of the rice field, you’ll be mesmerized by the beauty. When visiting Bali this is a must do but word of caution you need to get their early! Like 6:00am early or tourists will beat you to it… just saying.

The rice fields are in Tegalalang which is a small town 25 minutes outside of Ubud. If you are driving yourself, you need to get to Jl. Raya Tegallalang. Once on that road you will take that all the way there. It will be on your right-hand side and is very hard to miss. If you are staying in Denpasar or anywhere near Canguu, it is about a 1 1/2 drive to get there. The best way to get around Bali is of course motorbike, but if you are not comfortable with that you can hire a driver for the day.

With most tourist destinations the best time to always go is first light. I HIGHLY recommend you get there at 6:00am. Not only will you beat the crowds, but you will beat the heat. Bali can be unbearably hot during the day plus humid, so don’t ruin your visit by visiting at the wrong time. By arriving early, you can guarantee yourself great views and not having to fight through a mass amount of other people.

The best clothing to wear is anything loose and that doesn’t drag. The rice field is quite muddy, and you don’t want anything that can drag all over the ground. If you are going for an epic Instagram shot then shooting in a flowy dress is great, just know it will get dirty and you will want to change after.  For colors anything bright that will compliment green, such as orange, yellow, white, or blue. Make sure your shoes have something flat and with a grip. When walking up and down the fields you can very easily slip and no wants to end up face down in the rice field, definite day ruiner.

The Tegalalang Rice Fields are truly everything they live up to. It’s so serene to walk through the fields and just take in the scenery. Views from the top are a must because you can see the whole fields laid out in front of you. However, don’t miss the opportunity to venture down there is a cute bridge that you can walk across.

You only need about 30 minutes to see the fields but if your taking photos or if you’re flying a drone then it can take longer. Once you are done exploring in the fields, make sure you go see the Love Bali Swing. It’s located near the Rice Terrace Cafe. Its postcard cute and definitely something you want to experience.

Whether you are going for a photo op, a peaceful moment or just to see what all the talk is about you won’t be disappointed.
