Hotel Review: Moxy Amsterdam Houthavens

I am a huge Marriot fan, whenever I can stay at one of their properties or affiliate properties, I do. In late 2019 they signed a merger to acquire Starwood Hotels which included Ritz Carlton. As time has gone on, they have really increased their portfolio to have a hotel for every type of traveler.

In 2014 they introduced the Moxy line which is one of the best lines they currently have! It’s geared towards millennials and one of the biggest draws is that you check in at the bar. The brand focuses on experience over high end accommodations while still maintain a luxury feeling.

Keep reading for my full experience at Moxy Amsterdam Houthavens hotel.

This hotel is located right on the Amsterdam Harbor in the Netherlands. Why you aren’t right in the city it’s very easy to get to the city centre by renting a bike or taking an uber. You are also a short drive from the airport and major transportation hub.

This hotel has an industrial feel that offers modern and simple rooms. They offer free WIFI and have multiple USB ports which is so nice! When traveling you are limited on how many plugs you can put on a converter. Having extra USB plugs makes it easier to keep your phone, tablets, computers, etc. charged.

Dining

With the Moxy line they limit the “extras” to be able to keep the cost affordable and a trendier establishment. There are no restaurants on site, but they do have a full bar and convenience store. They offer a buffet breakfast that you can add for 12 euro per person. They have your standard cold breakfast with toast, cereal, fruit, juice, etc.

Rooms are very simple and modern. While the rooms are nice, they aren’t meant to be high end and overly fancy. You even have a bean bag in each room which is honestly a fun touch. You can opt to have a room on the harbor which I really recommend the views at night are so cool!

You can find the Athletic Club on site which is their gym and spa. The offer massages, hair treatments, fitness classes and a full gym. They also have a small indoor pool which is cute but not the best I have ever seen. A great touch is the gym is 24/7 so if you can get a workout in any time of day.

I would 100% recommend a stay at the Moxy Amsterdam hotel, the service was amazing and it’s such a unique accommodation. I usually stay and prefer hotels that have more amenities, but this hotel really met all my needs. It was unbelievably trendy, and every corner was “instagramable”! While this hotel is not the Ritz you will have an amazing time and be close to all the main things to see and do.
